CP, CPAA, CPI, CPPU, EN, QC
CPI marks denote Canadian-built cars in International Service.
CPAA marks denote cars acquired in the United States and operating in International Service.
QC marks formerly owned by Quebec Central Railway, acquired in 1912 with CP’s lease of the QC. CP resurrected the use of these marks in the 1970s on some paper service boxcars in an attempt to get them routed back to Quebec when empty. Similary, the E&N reporting marks were inherited from the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway on Vancouver Island, and resurrected by CP in the 1970s on a couple series of 40′ boxcars in lumber service to get other railways to route them back towards British Columbia when empty.
