Rutland Railway PS-1 boxcar No. 248 stands on Rock Island tracks at Omaha, Nebraska, on 19 June 1957. Built by Pullman-Standard in March 1956 as part of the Rutland’s 200-299 series, this 40 ft 6 in, 50-ton boxcar carried the striking green-and-yellow “Green Mountain Gateway” paint scheme that became one of the railroad’s most recognisable freight car liveries. © David S.
