Fabyan Station on the Maine Central’s Mountain Division in Carroll, New Hampshire, during the 1960s. Snow and ice linger around the broad station platforms and freight facilities as the tracks curve westward beneath the White Mountains, reflecting the harsh winter conditions regularly faced by crews working through Crawford Notch.
